Surf Lines I (Limited Edition)

I was lucky enough to be on the very southern end of South Island, New Zealand, in a place called Curio Bay when I took these images. I used the technique of Intentional Camera Movement, or ICM, where I deliberately moved the camera horizontally while taking the photograph. I wanted to represent the scene in an abstract way, and by using this technique, I was able to create a blur and yet retain enough detail to capture the scene the way I wanted. (It takes a lot of patience and many attempts to get this right!)

The result is a serene coastal scene, where the gentle interplay of sky and ocean creates a tranquil atmosphere, while the soft blur of colours evokes a sense of calm, and invites the viewer to reflect on the beauty of nature. The harmonious blend of blues and the lines of white surf and a single line of sand capture the essence of a peaceful shoreline, making it a perfect addition to any space that seeks to inspire relaxation and contemplation.
